Wadestown Garden Party. To-morrow, at 2.30 p.m., a garden fete arranged by the ladies of the Presbyterian Church will be ■ held at Mrs. John Craig's, 5, Bankin. street, Wadestown. Friends who wish to spend a pleasant afternoon will have an opportunity of meeting and having a friendly game of bowls, putting, quoits, or taking part in one of the many garden competitions. Cakes, produce, etc., will be on sale, and tea will bo served. Bazaax at Boseneath. The annual bazaar in connection with St. Barnabaa's Church, Boseneath, will be held in the Boseneath School to-mor-row. Lady Buckleton will open the bazaar at 3 p.m. Citizens' Day Nursery. The usual band of faithful workers for the Citizens' Day Nursery met recently to discuss the month's work and ways and means of raising money. It was reported that every effort had been made to help both mothers and children, while at the same time the high standard of comfort and efficiency had been maintained. All friends were tfrged to help this very necessary work. Very interesting letters were received from Mra. A. Gray, who is travelling abroad. Gifts from the following were gratefully acknowledged:—New Zealand Trawling Co., fish; Mr. Bod, bones; Boston Cake Shop, cakes; Mrs. Beid, eggs, sweets, etc.; Mrs. Elliott, vegetables; Mrs. Mills, butter and eggs; Mrs. Clarke, jam and soap; Mrs. Ward, linen; Mrs. Kirk, singlets and pillowcases; Mrs. Gibbs, 10a; Eugby Union, £o. * A Club Meeting. '. There was a large attendance recently at a mooting of the Apollo Women's Club, when the members had the pleasure of meeting Miss Fanny Richardson, a well-known Wellington artist, who is also a botanist, and who showed a charming collection of her pictures of bird life and flowers, trees, etc. These included some studies of rare plants found in -high mountain regions and in volcanic places. There was a brief programme of music, the whole evening being of much interest and pleasure. A_ vote of thanks was-given to.. Miss Bichardson, on the motion of the president, Mrs. Temple White. "Back to School-days." A carnival held at the Glide Skating Rinlr last evening took the form of a "Back to School-days" gala, and two or three hundred skaters availed themselves of the opportunity of "flitting back-overl'the'yearS'?-and enjoyed the entertainment provided by the management. The visitors fully entered into the spirit of the evening, which culminated in a great snowball fight, in,which skaters and spectators took part. The costumes were excellent, some showing great ingenuity, and it was.a hard task that faced the'judges in selecting the prize winners. Prizes were awarded as follows:—Best school girl, Miss W. Powles, 1; Miss P. Duncan, 2. Most humorous school girl: Miss McDonald, 1; Mrs. Beaidon, 2. Best school boy: Mr. Griffin, 1; Mr. Bruce Clarke, 2. Most humorous school boy: Mr. Roffe, 1; Mr. Cyril Browne, 2. New Shower-Proof Wool. "Babbit wools for caps and scarves and a new shower-proof wool for outer garments are among the outstanding types of knitting materials in demand," states a London, writer. The manageress of the knitting and embroidery department of a West-End store said: "The. modern girl is as clever with her knitting needles as her mother was, and she knits' quickly. A year ago I had few young women Customers. Most of the knitters seemed then to be elderly women. To-day the situation is the reverse. I think the? introduction of the little knitted caps started the young girls knitting."
