BOXING

BOYS' INSTITUTE TOURNEY

The finals of the Wellington Boys' Institute annual boxing tournament were decided in the institute gymnasium last evening before a large audience. The best bout of the evening was that between 1?. Banks and B. Lockerbie, in the Bst class. Lockerbie fought gamely and took a great deal of punishment, but his opponent had a slight advantage in weight. Results are as follows:—3^st class, J. Piechi defeated E. Latimer; 4st class H. Duncan defeated H. Greatboch; 4%st class, E. Foot defeated J. Muir; sst class, J. Baxter defeated R. Watson; s%st ,ass> £• ' Foot defeated D. Burnett; 6st class, T. Hanson won by default from A. Burns; 7st class, J. Parker defeated F. Rogers; Bsfc class, F. Banks defeated B Lockerbie; B%st class, T. Kelly defeated L. Parris.

The Wellington Boxing: Association's medal for the most scientific boxer was awarded to J. Baxter, the institute medal for the most improved boxer to H. Foot, and the institute medal for the most courageous boxer to B. Lockerbie. At the close of the evening Mr. W. A Parton and Mr. W. J. Jordan (director) addressed the boys, and'tendered a vote of thanks ;to the members of the Wellington Boxing Association for their valuable assistance.
