"CHRISTIAN GENERAL"

FENG OFFERS SERVICES

SHANGHAI, 2nd January. History was made during the holidays when Marshal Feng Yu-hsiaag, the so-called Christian general, also a former outlaw militarist, and Kuomin. chun, faction leader, conducted, a whirlwind speech-making tour of Shanghai, exhorting the public to support resistance- to Japan. Marshal Feng, who has pledged his support to the Nanking Government, offered his services to the Kuomiu. chun army and denounced the last Government.

Naively he deplored internecine warfare and advocated the forcible restoretion of China's lost territory. A few years ago there was a price on Marshal Feng's head; now he is lionised everywhere. The change demonstrates the patriotic feeling that is stirring the Chinese people.
