In the county championship _ Warwickshire defeated Leicestershire, 1* to 5. LATE SIR JOHN MONASH AMERICAN APPRECIATION (Received 9th October, 1.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Bth October. General John O'Ryan requested the Australian Press Association to convey to Australian veterans the sincere condolences of himself and the Officers aid men of the Twenty-seventh Division at the death of Sir John Monash. General O'Ryan stated that the severe hardships and losses which the Australian Divisions and the Twentyseventh and Thirtieth American Divisions suffered while the soldiers of both countries served under General Monash's command established a comradeship the memory of which endured. He emphasised the appreciation of all concerned for tho Australian General* splendid qualities of leadership. General O'Ryan added that he had heard oftem that General Monash's services to Australia in peace time had continued at the same high standard he displayed during the war. He felt sincerely grieved at the knowledge of General Monash'a death.
