A very enjoyable programme was arranged for the last, meeting of the Nuhaka Women's Institute by the vicepresidents, Mesdames M. and B. Shaw and H. Eames. The meeting opened with the institute "Ode," all joining in heartily. Two new members wero enrolled, namely, Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Tidswell. Members were reminded of the stall day to bo hold next month. Tho rest of' the afternoon was taken up with competitions, these proving most amusing. The. winners were as follows:—"Song Wedding," Mrs. Young and Mrs. M'Kee; "cake" competition, Mesdames Browster, Wilson, Caddie, M'Lee, and Gordon; "animal _ competition, Mrs. Young and Mrs.Wi Nepia. Two interesting demonstrations followed. Tiie method of framing pictures with passe-partout binding was described by Miss Nauey Shaw, and Miss Eames demonstrated tho making of silk lamp-shades. Some home-cured lambskins wero very much admired. During the tea interval Miss Montoath contributed a song. The hostossos for the afternoon were Mesdames M'Eee and Young and Misses Woodley and Monteath. There was a good attendance of members of tho Keikiorangi Women's Institute last Thursday in the Waikanae Hall. As this branch of tho institute had boon formed just two years, this meeting took the form of a "birthday afternoon." Visitors from Paraparaumu and To Horo Institutes brought greetings from their members. The "birthday cake" was made by tho president and icod by Mrs. J. Anderson, of Christchurch. Mrs. Stock (Palmerston North) gave a most interesting talk on her experiences while travelling in Europe. The difficulties encountered in foreign countries, through not knowing tho languages, were particularly humorous. Miss Jean Burgess (Waikanae) judged the entries in the competition, "Tho best decorated vase," and explained to tho members the various points in her judging. Mrs. S. W. Brown was awarded first place, Mrs. C. Wootton second, and Mrs. G. A. Monk third. Community singing, with Miss N. Laurensou as leader and Miss M.
