BROOKLYN PLAY AREA
(To the Editor.)
Sir,— According to your report of a recent meeting of the Brooklyn Ratepayers' Association a proposal was made to grant a sum of £75 from the play area fund to the Brooklyn School Committee towards a tennis court, and after diicuasion the matter was held over for further consideration. This money was collected «ome years ago for the purpose of a pwy area for the children, and it would appear that the committee haa still a balance unexpended. Such being the case I think the money could be used in extending the pre-, sent area or toward* the erection .of a swimming bath or at lewrtin. Lome direction where the younger children can participate in its benefit. It is known that the school tennis courts are reserved, for the use of selected scholars of the upper standards and, outside of school hours; for a few exclusive clubs. The object of the carnival was to raise funds for a general play area to benefit all children, young nnd old, and I think the committee should keep faith with the subscribers in this respect.—l am, etc., ■ " ,
