. YJVI.C.A. put up a good performance against University, and with better, luck should have been beaten by much less than 4 goals to one. The game was a succession of attacks and counter-attacks, with little between the teams except in the circle work, in which the students were much superior. Sykcs scored for University soon after the start, but YoungMen attacked strongly, only to lose two good scoring chauces by poor shooting. University retaliated, and Paul gavo^Lewis an opportunity of netting, but the'latter was off-side. Shortly before' the interval Sykes scored again. University 2, V.M.C.A. 0. In the second spell Young Men', did most of the attacking, particularly in the final stages, but "principally owing to .the cood work of Macintosh, in University's goal, success did not.come their way for some time. Simpson ' improved University's score from a corner, but thereafter V.M.C.A. took play to their opponents' territory i'or most .of the time. A breakaway by, University' resulted in Simpson scoring,- and then Young Men pressed hard, a.nd Mac Donald snapped up the ball and scored from a melee. The same player later netted again, but was olf-side. .University kept their goal intact until' the end.' Mr.'ll. Hatch controlled the game.
