UPPER HUTT CLUB
The Upper Hutt Rifle Club fired the third match of the third series of its championship at Trentham on Saturday over ranges 500 yards and 600 yards, lhe wind was variable, at. periods favourable for good shooting, while at other periods it gave marksmen many anxious moments. As a result, good scores were only obtained during the former period. The best scores were:—At 500 yards: F. Evans 46, T. Whiteman 45, G. Cokcr and B. Dunn 43 each. At 600 yards: T. Whiteman 45, F. Evans 44, H. Whiteman 41. The best total rifle scores were: T. Whiteman and F. Evans, 90 each; T. Whiteman, with an aggregate score of 93, secured the leg-in for trophy. The following are the scores:—
H. Whiteman, 41, .41, 7—89; L. Kidgway, 41, 36, H—BS; J. Johnston, 36, 36, 18— SS; B. Dunn, 43. 39, o^B2. With one shoot to go in tho third scries, the following are the leading positions in tho series:—T. Whitcman, 176, 9—185; N. Kitchen, 168-10 —184; J. Johnston, 143-38—181. Next Saturday the club will fire its musketry course.
