BENEFIT CONCERT

' The .benefit concert held in the De Luxe Theatre last evening resulted in £53 being collected in aid of the earthquake fund. The theatre, which was available by courtesy of Kemball Theatres, Ltd., was filled with an audience which appreciated the excellent programme provided under the direction of Messrs. Paul T. Cullcji and Herbert F. 'Wood. By permission of the commanding officer, the band of the Wellington Division, Eoyal Naval Volunteer Reserve, played1 some excellent numbers. Many' leading Wellington artists performed, including Mrs. Amy Woodward, Mrs. Wilfred Andrews, Miss Dorothy Hanify, Miss Mary Cooloy, and Messrs. Will J. Mason, Ken Aitken, William Haydock; Herbert T. Wood, and Paul T. Cullen. The accompanists were Miss Iris Mason and Messrs. James Haydock and Paul T. Cullen. Mr. Martin Luckie, Deputy-Mayor of' Wellington, addressed the audience at an interval during the programme.
