RECENT ENGAGEMENT

IN COURT CIRCLES

The engagement was recently announced of Viscount Gage, of Firlo place, Lewes, Sussex, and the Hon. Alexandra Imogen Clair Grenfell, younger daughter of Lord and Lady Desbbrough, states the "Daily Mail." Miss Grenfell is a godchild of the late Queen Alexandra, after whom she was named, and through her mother's long association with the Court as lady-in-waiting to the Queen, she is well known in social circles. Her debut was made in 1923 when she was Id, and she soon became one of the most popular girls in her set. With masses of fair, curly hair and a delicate complexion, she was of ten iv demand, too, to act as bridesmaid to her friends. In the last few years she- has been her father's constant companion, has travelled abroad with her mother, and has taken a large share in the entertaining which Lord and Lady Desborough do at Taplow Court, Taplow, Buckinghamshire. Lord Gage, who is 35, has had an interesting military career, serving in Franco with tho Coldstream Guards throughout tho war. Entering politics later, he became Parliamentary private secretary to the late Earl, of Birkenhead while he was Secretary for India. While Lord Gage was at Eton his fag was the Dnke of Gloucester.
