EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND
QUICK DESTRUCTION',
(Received 11th December, 1 p.m.) LONDON, 10th December. Fire broke out on the famous old Atlantic liner Empress of Scotland, docked in Blyth Harbour. The flames blazed so quickly that they burst through four decks, and in a couple of hours only the shell of tho vessel remained. Eight men on board escaped in the barest margin of time. They; lost all their effects.
The Empress of Scotland, owned b£. the Canadian Pacific Eailway Company, is a steel twin-screw steamer of 25,160 tons gross register. She was built in 1905 at Stettin, and was formerly the Kaiserin Auguste Victoria. She is 677.5 ft in length, 77.3 ft . ia' breadth, and 50.2 ft in depth.
