BELATED PARDON
DEATHBED CONFESSION
A MURDER OF 47 YEARS AGO
United Press Association—By Electric TelM graph—Copyright. . (Beeeived 11th December, 3 p.m.) , BBBLIN, 10th December. Konrad Kruse, of Detmold, who was sentenced in 1883 to imprisonment for, life on a charge of poisoning his mother, has been pardoned in conse« quenee of a confession by the real murderer, who is in America. Kruse, who is now 70 years of age, was released in ~1918 after being 35 years in prison. His family made repeated efforts to get the case retried, but without result. It seems that the murderer wished to marry the woman in order to secure her husband's prosperous business. His advances were repulsed, so he poisoned her from motives ;of vengeance. Whea Kruse was suspected the real murderer gave false witness at the trial, and then migrated to America, where his death-bed confession enabled a belated pardon to be granted to Kruse.
