SPRINT TO TOXEUMA

RETURN TO VERY BEST FOR£\I

Toxeuma returned with all his old brilliance in the Otete Handicap, the open sprint at Woodville yesterdaj', and he scored in his best style. A. E. Ellis' kept lim handy to the front over the early, part, and followed First Money and Cuticle into the straight.. Cuticle then took command, but Toxeuma lodged his claim at the distance, and it was quickly evident he would catch the leader in time. Arrow Lad challenged strongly on the outside, but the top-weight iv^as not doing his best to hold him off by half a length. Cuticle was half a -neck, tather away. third, and Royal Parade, Tjimosin, and Goshawk were next. ; : In a good betting race Toxeumn had a few more tickets'invested on'his chance than Royal Parade, with Arrow Lad not much less in demand. Tpxeuma's was an, excellent effort, and in such form he will' be & danger in the Railway Handicap ati Meralie in spite of his big?:weight. Arrow Lad was not too well placed early, but he came in characteristic fashion at the finish, and added to his long list of seconds. Success for him is long overdue. Royal Parade will improver with the race,1 and so will L'imosm. Rust. Money shut up quickly after leading to the straight. Goshawk is in very well, and with the race to tuie him up will be a dangerous rival for the best o£ $hem at EUerslie. Ridden by a little known apprentice, he was not far away at the •end.
