CHINA INLAND MISSION

Two very successful meetings were held last night under the auspices of the China Inland Mission. The first was held in St. Paul's Schoolroom, Sydney street, to farewell Mr. Jack Muir, a newly-accepted New Zealand missionary, who leaves for China next month. Mr. Muir told, howhe had been influenced to devote his life to missionary -work,- and the Rev. H. S. Conway described the far-reaching work of- missionaries in the isolated parts or China, giving a graphic account of their trials and hardships. The other meeting was held in the. Constable Street Congregational CV.irch Hall, which was packed to hear a" most interesting address on '•The Land of the Llamas,"- given by the Rev. R. Cunningham, who is on leave from his missionary'work in Tibet. . . To-night Mr. Muir, Mr. Conway, and Mr Cunningham will all speak in the Tory Street Hall, and - another large attendance is expected. Mr. Cunningham a talks, which are illustrated with lantern slides, give a very vivid impression or it. Tibetian people, who live their strange lives among some of the highest mountains in the world. . Subsequent meetings to- be given tnuf week under the auspices of the mission will be held to-morrow night in the Lyall Bay Baptist Church, and at St. John s Church, Willis street,. where Mr. Cunningham will speak; also on ' Thursday ni«_t at the Island Bay Methodist Church when Mr. Cunningham has promoted » further interesting address.
