LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION

The Wellington Lawn Tennis Association gave (heir first annual dance last evening in Kirkcaldie and Stains tearoom. Tho room was decorated with strings of coloured lights, and on the central lamp was a gigantic paper lamp-shade. Tables were arranged round the room cabaret fashion, nnd one end formed a lounge. During the evening dance items were given by pupils of Miss Kathleen O'Brien. A classic duet was followed by an amusing burlesque, both of . which were mueli enjoyed. A demonstration of ballroom dancing was given by Miss Betty Graham and Mr. T. B. M'Gregor, of the Phyllis Bates School of Dancing. The president (Mr. J. 0. Peacock) and Mrs. Peacock were host and hostess, Mrs. Peacock wearing black chiffon velvet. Also present were Mrs. W. J. Melody (who wore black with touches of tangerine), Mrs. Gibson Stott (fusehia red georgette), Mrs. Morton Patcrson (tangerine ring velvet), Mrs. Thompson (white georgette and silver lace), Misses Margaret Whyte (wine georgette with • inset bands of lace), Lulu Morice (lemon brocaded taffeta), Margaret Beid (flamingo crepe do chine), Joy Slomau (royal blue georgette with diamente), Alison Pearco (floral chiffon), Sheila Todd (powder blue moire and tulle), J. Whcok'v (lloral taffeta and tulle), Meg Knyvett (black panno velvet), D. Howe (pink tloral taffeta), Morua Evans (white faille with net yoke), Lyu M'Gown (blue lace), Betty Graham (black panne velvet and tulle), Kathleen O'Brien (ivory georgette); also Messrs. W. J. Melody, Gibson Stott, Dennis Blundell, Pat Williams, John Agar, Begg (Melbourne), W. Turnbull, W. B. Watson, S. Wheeler, B. O'Brien, C. Wearue, D. Eeid, Todd, T. B. M'Gregor, Kunkle, and Spong. The committee who had arranged the dance were: Misses E. Fair, N. Baudinct, M. Whyte, and Mrs. Gibson Stott, Messrs. B. O'Brien, N. B. C. Wilson, B. Gooday, L. H. Pollock, and W. P. Allardyce (hon. secretary). :
