CONFERENCE TEA

LYCEUM CLUB EN FETE

The elubroom at the Wellington Lyceum Club was crowded with guests [this morning, when the Ladies' Auxifliary and members of the Women's Branch of the Political Beform League of Wellington gave a reception to the men and women delegates attending the Dominion conference of the league. Tho room was charmingly decorated with yellow bulbs, Iceland poppies, brown birch, and other bush foliage, whilefloating bowls of huge pansies came in for much admiration. Delicious tea and savouries were served, the tables being arranged with marigolds and fresias. Mrs. J. Gf. Coates (president) received the guests, wearing a mole coloured frock, and deep blue coat with grey far, and close-fitting grey coat. Mrs. Torstonson (hon. . secretary of , the auxiliary) and other members of th© committee, as well as members of the club committee, assisted in the hospitalities, with excellent results. There were no speeches, but Mrs. Coates mentioned the new Beform League Club, situated at the comer of Panama and Featherston streets, which was being prepared for members, and hoped that the visiting delegates would make an opportunity of visiting and inspecting it before they left Wellington. There were about 200 present—all tho delegates practically, as well as many wellknown Wellington members. Mr. C. Todd (Otago) voiced the hearty apprey ciation of the guests. The gathering was a very cordial and pleasant one.
