ST. ANNE'S
The annual general ■nicctins of St. Anne's Churcli, Northland, wns held in the Sunday school room on Wednesday evening, the vicar, the Rev. J. t. AshleyJones,. presiding over a fair attendance. The treasurer. Air. 13. D. Good, stated that the total receipts were Is 5d less than fast year. Tlie general offertories had decreased nearly £15, and. the donations had increased about £IG. lhe Ladies' Social' Guild had contributed £4o towards church expenses, and had collected through the "threepenny" scheme £22 IDs. Had it not been for the guild the church would have been in debt._ It was a position needing serious consideration. There was a balance of £30, but the parish was faced with a very heavy, expenditure iv.--deed for serious dilapidations in the church. , . . At the instance ot the Ladies Social Guild, the vestry had decided to hold n "Golden Sunday" on 18th May, when an appeal would be made to parishioners to give as liberal donations as possible. Special services will be held; in the morning Canon Percivnl James, M.A., will preach, and in the evening the Rev; Percy Houghton, M.A. A report was given on the condition ot the church, especially the roof and the west end. These were in a very bad state, and wouid probably entail an expenditure of £130 to £150, The follow Jag officers were elected:— Vicar's churchwarden, Mr. 15. D. people's churchwarden, Mr. Edmuucl Jones; vestry, Mesdames Hargraves, Wilkinson, Rastall and Housa, and Messrs. Guise, Grant, T. L. Boyes, W. Platt, Costall, and Adams; lion, secretary, Mr. J. M. Richardson; auditor,. Mr. Lewis. At the. close of the meeting refreshmerits were provided by the ladies of the parish.
