AUCKLAND MEETING

Practically all the best class horses will be at EUeralie. The Cup field is a fine one, aud, while the Railway Handicap is not quite so good as usual, it cannot be scoffed at. The supporting events are .first class. Racing will- commence at 11.15 a.m. with the '' . '. " :■■■■■•

All things being equal, the event may prove a duel between Richfield and Count Palatine. The latter is undoubtedly improving, and should give a good account of himself.

Praise has impressed most of the juveniles seen out so far. As the fillies appear to dominate, Gesture may beat Royal Ruler, although the latter is a smart colt. ROBINSON HANDICAP,' of GOO soys; 250 ; soys to. winner of each division, 33 for ■ seconds, and 15 for thirds. Seven furlongs.

With divisions luck will not be so paramount, but backers have the task of selecting the winner of each division'straighi out. In this division Hunting Day nc doubt will be a good favourite/with Greenaway a possible improver.

If Royal Parade starts, he should be in good demand. In his absence, Rec Lion may do best.

Star. Stranger, given a dry track, has to be tho selected one and the pick of the handicap. Historic and Paquito are passed bj>, but In the Shade, if he is anything like his Eiccarton form, 6hould be one of Star. Stranger's most formidable opponents. Concentrate is more than a mere possibility, but Corinax has a much more difficult; task -than he had last year. It cannot be said that any one of the rest can be counted out, but handicap form points to Star Stranger, with Concentrate and In the Shade next best.

Pangolin shaped so well at Riccarton that he is sure to be in demand. At the he has a pair o£ northeners who have yon over the stiff fences at Ellerslie who are receiving 131b and 161b from him. He may not be able to concede the weight. • RAILWAY HANDICAP, of 1250 soys; six furlongs.

Cimabue, Silvermine, and Toxeuma are fit horses; but Toxeuma has to have preference; . .Yallar is a smart northerner, and Aspiring won so well at Woodyille that she cannot be discarded altogether. Toxeuma and yallar may do best.

Interest in. this event will be centred on the .first appearance of Limerick's brother Dunraven. Sight Draft and Awakan have both shown themselves smart, while Tenterden is undoubtedly promising. Form points to Awaken and Sight Draft.

■ Pegaway, Eaglet, and Mervette all have excellent form, but it is a very hard race. \One o£ the lighter weights may score a surprise win, arid in a search through the "Jist King Midas and Sir Russell suggest .^themselves as likely ones. Mervette may Jbe the best of the others.
