MANAWATU
Racing folk In Wellington are well cat■ered for in regard to transport to the sManawatu Eacing Club's Meeting at l-Awapuni, with a fine train service advertised.. Given a fine.day there should be a first-class attendance and the racing b'etjter than usual at this fixture. Proceedings will commence at noon with the
? This' event is the weakest: of the day. jOna dry track and at the distance Novar ' should see a short price. Pine Acre may be the next best, for Red Bank does not stay too welli ' '
Not much enthusiasm can be aroused about the quality there. The Southerner, Hurly Burly i£ she did her best would show up well, but she does not appear to be too reliable. Ben Hur, Good Acre Kilorell, Parl, and Tigrano have all shown some form. Ben Hur's seconds to Cadland and Glenrossie entitle him to special attention.
There are some useful hacks engaged. Two with handy weights are My Own and Kiriana, while Democratic raced well enough in the Nolan Cup at Hawera to be considered.
If he runs Rabbi is sure of plenty of support. ■ Cashier with L. G. Morris, may be the actual favourite on the day. At his best he should go well in this field. Hoylake, Great Charter, and First Acre all have good handy weights, and Courageous, judged on his second to Merry Mint at Woodvillo cannot be ignored. Kabbi, Cashier, and Courageous may do best.
Form points undoubtedly to Princess Betty, Lady Pam, aud Arajean. Lady Pam will be coupled on the totalisator with Masterton. Ball Dress may be the possible improver judged on her second to Princess Betty and Pharaoh at Riceartou last month. Lady. Pain's effort at Feilding was most convincing, and she and Princess Betty may do best.
Backers are not likely to go past CadJand, although there may be some support for lernden, Aeora, and Blue Paper. All these three have done well recently, but not in such good style as Cadland.

The Raider, Consent, and Arrow Lad are all good types for this course, and m this company, but the two lightweights Gold Cure and Gold Dawn may * prove troublesome -with their advantage in the handicap. Both have shown up well in their racent races, and they sliould give a good account of themselves. : •■.
101b penalty) 7 11 Cerf '.. 7 0 Ruanui's two good efforts at Feilding in better class than this entitle him to the position of \a solid first favourite. Stanchion and Atholspear are nicely treated and no doubt an apprentice allowance will be claimed for Atholspear. At the same time Ruanui's third to Rabbi and Shrewd at Feilding reads like winning form in an event of the kind under review. The following riding engagements, additional to those previously announced, have been made for the opening day of the Manawatu Meeting:—A. Hobson: Novar H. Pitcon: Pahu. W. Taylor: Callamart! F.
