VISITING SWIMMERS

(Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The Australian champions, Noel Ryan and Owen Griffiths, competed at the Paeroa Swimming Club's carnival ia the Municipal Baths last evening. Griffiths was defeated in the 100 yards invitation race by K. Strange, of the Paeroa Club, who started Bsee before Griffiths. Griffiths made a beautiful turn after the first, length, but failed to get a good turn for the final lap, and in a great finish Strange won by a touch, with Page (9sec) half a yard away third. The time was lmin 11 2-ssec. In the 220 yards invitation handicap, the Australian champion Ryan gave a fine display. He gave away up to 15 seconds handicap. He caught his two opponents at the fourth turn, and from then on had an easy victory, finishing the distance in 2min 40^sec. The first 6G 2-3 yards were done in 41sec and the 133 1-3 yards in lmin 30sec. ■
