AMENDMENT

(Keeeived 7th December, 2.15 p.m.) LONDON; 6th December. The House of Lords and the House of Commons are in disagreement on the Lords' amendment to the Necessitous Widows Bill. It was reported by Lord Salisbury that the amendment was carried as a protest against ■ the growing burdens .the Government is, throwing on the taxpayers. The House is alarmed iat the effect it must have on industryland desired to record its profound apprehensions. The House, without a division, agreed.not to insist on the amendment, and passed the Bill.
