(Eeceived 7th December, 2130 p.m.) WASHINGTON, 6th Dec. The situation «t Haiti, which led to the proclamation of martial law at Port au Prince and Cape Haitien on. Thursday, is described by the Secretary, of State, Mr. Stimson, as exceedinglyserious. Because of the popular excitement there is a danger of out* breaks of the irresponsible elements. A' strike in the Customs offices also threatens serious complications, and resulted in martial law being proclaim* cd. The United States marine corpsguards are patrolling the city, and all is at present quiet. The U.S.S. Wright, at Norfolk, Virginia, has been ordered, to sail on Saturday with a detachment of marines for duty overseas. It i« presumed that Haiti is their destina-r tion.
