FOUND ON THE HIGHWAY
A GERMAN CRIME

LONDON, 6th December. ' ihe Berlin correspondent of "Th« Times" says that the finding of a deserted, burned motor-ear, in which a man's charred body was also found, on, a country road near Regensbure was assumed by the police to have beea a case of accident. They identified the man through the car's numberplate and his wife claimed to recognise the body as that of her husband and took it to Leipzig for burial. The police, however, became suspicious, and they watched the wife. They caught her telephoning to her husband at Strasbourg, where he was arrested. It' is alleged that he confessed to murder-" ing an unknown man on the public highway, and then setting fire Ho ths car with the body inside. He then went to Strasbourg. It is alleged that the crime was committed to enable th« wife to secure the husband's life insurance of £7250.
