BAY OF WHALES, 4th Dec.

The Gould geological party are now a', the foot of the Queen Maud Kauge, trying to iiud a way to key points of geological interest. Dr. Gould sent back word to the base that he had tried to ascend the Livs Glacier, but was stopped by crevasses and precipices of ice, and that he'intends to head to the eastward to try to ascend to the plateau by way of the Axel Heil/erg Glacier. He says: "We stood by the Polar flight until the 'plane landed, and then tried to raise the base in order to be first to send you felicitations. Many thanks for things dropped from 'plane, especially photographs, which will bo of great value."
