ATTACKED BY BULL
LOBBY DRIVES OFF ANIMAL

A well-known Pirongia farmer, Thomas Steel, when driving a young Jersey bull into a paddock .yesterday, was savagely attacked by the animal and knocked off his horse. The horse was severely gored. Mr. Steel scrambled under a hedge. A lorry driver named Mr. Mounsey, heard Mr. Steel's cries and drove the lorry at the bull, diverting its attention while Mr. Steel escaped through the hedge. The horse was badly gored, necessitating seventeen stitches. The rider escaped with bruises.
