The Prune Minister (the Bight Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) is reported to be doing very well ana maintaining the progress already -made in his condition. The Minister of Public Worts (the Hon._E. A. Ransom); who took ill at a' meeting of Cabinet yesterday, has now ' practically recovered ana hopes to bs able to resume his duties to-morrow. The High Commissioner-elect,- the Hon T. M. Whitby'jaines, Vicar of Tinui, Masterton, will attend the Toe H Schools Camp at Besolution Bay as padre for the second week. He will relieve the Eev. E. S. Sadlier) ■ will leave for Wellington on 12th .February, en route -to -.London, where he will attend the Lambeth Conference, which will be held from 9th July to 9th August. The Sishop cspeets to be away about a year, and during his absence the Vicar-General of the Diocese, Archdeacon Dart, of Nelson, will be his locum tenens.

The Rev. J.-E. Draper, of Opotiki, has been appointed vicar of the parish, of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Auckland, in succession to the Rev. G. Gordon Bel], who has been appointed" vicar of St. Andrew's Church, Gainbridge, and Archdeacon of Waikato. Mr. Draper was educated under the late Canon Foster at St. Paul's Missionary College, Burgh, in the diocese of Lincoln, England. While still a. student he saw service in the Great War. Upon his return he passed the examination for the licentiate of theology of the University of Durham'; He was ordained deacon to the Bishop of Waipu by the Bishop of London in St. Paul's in 1921 and was ordained-a. priest by the Bishop of Waipu in 1922. On reaching Xew Zealand, he was appointed curate of Darinevirke, where he remained until 1923, when he was appointed curate of Hastings. He left.. Hastings in 1925 to become vicar of Opotiki. .
