Eeplying to ti deputation from professional musiciA'Hs who have lost their employment owiiig to the advent of the talkies and canned music, and who are new seeking the a pecial taxation of film organisations in <>rder to create an unemployment fund, the Prime Minister, Mr. Scullin, said that the Government viewed very serion'sly the inroads made by canned music. The Government certainly was not v?oing to allow America to take away the employment of this country. He suggested that the parties should have 4'- conference and try to solve the problera themselves, otherwise the Governing it would have to take a hand just as :it was doing in regard to the tariff.
