The upper reaches of thtO Thames are in many places in a state of flood, and the river is steadily rising; during the past 48 hours there has bee a a rise of 16 inches near Windsor. Serious floods have developed in the Midlands and wide areas are under water.. In the south-east of England the flo*'d has so altered the countryside as viewed from the air that an air liner pilot yvsterday from Cologne failed to pick up iamiliar marks and had to steer a compass: course to Croydon. In London, which ha'.s suffered much less severely than other parts of the country, the rainfall regis; tered during November was over Sin. The nomal November rainfall is 3.22 inches.
