VETERINARY SURGEONS SILL.

The House of Representatives decided last night to disagreed with one of the amendments inserted by the Legislative Council in the Veterinary Surgeons Bill—that providing that a person who has practised as a veterinary surgeon in Now Zealand for not less than ten years immediately prior to the commencement of the Act may continue in .practice if he lodges his name with the Minister of Agriculture not later than six months after the Act comes into force. Several members on the Opposition benches objected that the period of six months in the clause defeated what the House had in mind, and after some discussion the period was made twelve months. The suggestion of the Council that two persons be appointed to the board instead of one on the recommendation of the Minister wag not giv.en effect to. The other amendments were agreed to.
