WELLINGTON v. SELWYN

After' an interesting ' game, played at Kilbirnie Park, Wellington defeated Selwyn by 20 points to 14. Selwyn won the toss and played with the wind at their backs, which proved of' great-assistance in the first half. At half-time the score was: Wellington 12, Selwyn 8. In the second spell Wellington looked like coming out the winners with a big margin in their favour. Selwyn, however, were able to stand the pace: The final score was: Wellington 20, Selwyn 14. For Wellington the scorers were Hawkins (2), Veitch, Carter, Corliss, and Hill. Matheson converted one try. Hancock scored for Selwyn a try that Mitchell converted. The last-mentioned player also kicked three penalty goals. Mr. H. H. Anslow was referee.
