STOREMEN'S AWARD
AGREEMENT ARRIVED AT. The Conciliation Council concluded its bearing of the storeman's dispute yesterday, an amicable agreement being, reached on all the main points at .issue. The main clauses regarding wages agreed .to yesterday were the following: (1) Casual workers employed in the stores of the employers affected by the new award shall be paid not less than ls HV_d per hour; (2) permanent employees similarly employed shall be paid not less than £4 5s per week; (3) workers called upon to carry, bag, handle, or mix manure by hand shall be paid sixpence an hour in addition to their ordinary rate whilst so engaged, the minimum time for which payment is to be made being one hour; (.) workers engaged in classing hides, sheepskins, or rabbitskins, in control of grass seed and grain-cleaning operations, sampling grain or seed, or handling hides or green skins, shall be paid one penny per hour in addition to the rates already prescribed. An agreement was also reached in regard to overtime rates, holidays, and employment of youths.
