LODGE MEETINGS
The weekly meeting of the Pioneer Lodge, No. 11, 1.0. G.T., was held on Monday, 30th August, in the Webb Street _Jis?#,n Hall. The C.T., Sister Devereaux, presided over a fair attendance of members and visitors. After the usual business had been attended to, several of the pupils of Mr. len Barnes entertained the lodge with musical Items. After supper was served the usual votes of thanks were passed to performers and to the brothers who were responsible for the evening's programme. On resuming the order of business several members were reported to be recovering from illness. It was decided to forward a protest to the Prime Minister against the propo.ed Licensing Bill, and urging that an amendment be made in the form of a two-issue ballot paper. One new member was proposed for re-admission. Greetings were received from lodges and members in Dunedin and Masterton, and heartily reciprocated. The meeting closed with the usual ceremony, C.T. Sister Devereaux presiding.
