NIGHT BAKING.
The question of the prohibition of night baking was raised in tho House of Representatives last night by Mr. P. Fraser (Wellington Central), who asked the Minister of Labour if he proposed to introduce legislation this session to deal with it.
Some time ago, ho recalled, the Minister promised a deputation of operative bakers tliat ho would c6nsider the matter, and if possible bring down legislation this session.
"Thero will be no legislation this session," stated tho Minister (tho Hon. G. J. Anderson). "It is a contentious matter. After I saw tho deputation the lion, member referred to, another dopution representing tho employers saw me, and I could see very well from the statements on both sides that it was rather a delicate matter and that it would take some considerable time to go into it. Consequently I have done nothing in the matter for this session. I can't see my way now to introduco a Bill before the end of the session. I will go into it more fully during the recess."
