GETTING REPARATIONS
POINCARE WINS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE.
■ PARIS, 19th January. After M. Poi»care had lengthily reviewed France's foreign policy the L-hamber of Deputies voted confidence in the Government-by 415 to 151. In the course of a statement, M Pomcare said that France had rightly rejected frequent British proposals for a revision of the German debt, which were not accompanied by an offer of compensation with respect to France's debt to her.
Referring to the means of applying •the possible recommendations of the Experts' Committee, M. Poincare suggested that reparations payments might l:e obtained by the working of railways m the occupied regions by inter-Allied companies. France was willing to agree that portion of the prospective German loan be devoted, to the restoration of German finances, but the bulk of it must be handed over for reparations.
