NEWTOWN v. WELLINGTON.
A series of friendly matches were played between teams from Newtown and Wellington Clubs. Wellington A team journeyed to Newtown, and Newtown B team played at Wellington. Wellington A team won seven matches and lost six, and Wellington B won six and lost seven. The matches, therefore, finished all square, each club winning 13. The following are the details of the matches played at Newtown, Wellington Club players' being mentioned first:—Wright beat Fathers, 9-6; Henderson lost to Forbes, 7-9; B. O'Brien beat Morgan, 9-6; Grant beat Richards, 9-4; Henderson and Wright beat Fathers and Forbes, 9-6; B. O'Brien and Irons lost to Morgan and Richardson, 5-9; Grant and Witcombe lost to Founess and Cornet, '7,-9; Mrs. Witcombe beat Miss Rhodes, 7-6; Mrs. Bree lost to Miss Carrick, 1-7; Mrs. Witcombe and Mrs. Henderson beat Miss Carrick and Miss Mountier, 7-2; Mrs. Bree and Miss Grady lost to Miss Rhodes and Miss Clegg, 3-7; Irons and Mrs. Henderson lost to Founess and Miss Mountier, 7-9; Mrs. Witcombo and Mis. Grady beat Cornet and Miss Clegg, 9-6. LADDER MATCH. A ladder match was played on Thorndon courts between Parker, challenger for second position, and D. France. both coming to the net to volley only on occasion. Hard dviving was indulged in and fine passing shots executed. The result was an accurate indication of the merits of the players. BROUGHAM HILL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. Two doubles matches of the Brougham Hill Club championships were played on Saturday, and resulted in Ward and Armstrong defeating Pipe and Tucker, 6-2, 6-3, and Roberts and C. F. Williams defeating Murie and '-* ntiplay, 6-0, 6-1.
