HUGARD'S WONDER SHOW.

In . presenting" the above attraction at the Opera House on Monday next for a season of six nights, the management state that they are offering "one of the most remarkable entertainments that has toured the world." During his travels in the East' Hugard ' has procured some very costly costumes and effects, and it is, said that in the second, part of the programme, where he presents Ching Sung Loo and his Chinese assistants in the celebrated Oriental act, " A night in a, Chinese .palace," the stage is one blaze of Oriental grandeur and effect. This act runs for seventy minutes, during which not a word is spoken, vet the audience is held spellbound by the marvels shown them. This act is said to have run *iv New York and London alone for six consecutive months. Hugard's great rifle act is the talk of every place he has visited, and is his own invention. It is described as 'follows: "He allows three local, riflemen to bring their own rifles and cartridges, load them and mark the shells and bullets, also to have a committee' on the stage. The bullets and shells are* also marked by different individuals in the audience. The men then fire from the back of the' stalls. Hugard catches the bullets, returns the exploded shells (with cordite) and bullets with the grooves of the rifle upon them, hot, and all the private marks upon them. This act is the only one of its kind in the world, and must be seen to be believed." Hugard 'is supported by a strong company. THEATRE ROYAL. Miss Maud Fanning, the clever impersonator, delighted another large audience at the Theatre Royal last evening. Her efforts were ably seconded by Victor the Great, the legerdemain artist; Arthur Elliott, the versatile comedian; and Hedley and Bartlett, the Musical Mokefi. ' To-night will be the last occasion upon which the current programme will be presented, a complete change being announced for Monday. * HIS 1 MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Considerable • ingenuity and skill, artistic and managerial, have been brought to the making of that almost remarkable film, "The Adventuies of Ulysses," which is now being screened at His Majesty's Theatre, Courtenayplace. The complementary studies have been judiciously selected. This programme will-.be screened for the list time this evening. On Monday next the usual complete change of bill will be made. KING'S THEATRE. "A Gipsy's Hate" will be shown for the last time at The King's Theatre tonight. There will be the usual weekly change on Monday, when a Pathe drama of unusual interest, entitled "Nick Winter and the Stolen Favourite," will be the star item. , THE NEW THEATRE. Sessions were well attended last evening and to-day at the New Theatre continuous pictures. "The Secret Treaty" is an exciting' and mystifying story of an j attempt by foreign spies to steal a ' valuable document from the safe of a Minister for Foreign • Affairs. The plot is well constructed and 'the action is in- ! teresting. The current pictures will be | seen for the last time this evening. On Monday "a complete change will be headed by "Fro Diavolo," a high-class costume drama. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. The main attractions of the current programme of the Empress Theatre continuous pictures comprise the A.B. exclusive comedy' drama "My Hero," a mirthful story of a juvenile courtship ; "The Moving Finger," and "The Stain," both S. and A. exclusive dramas. "The Warwick Chroncile" contaihs a budget of up-to-date news. "Once Upon a Time" is a charming fairy phantasy. There are also a number of enjoyable comedies. To-night these subjects will be exhibited, for ' the last . time* The management announces the introduction at all sessions' next Monday of Selig's historic drama "Christopher Columbus" (of "The Discovery of America").' Over three years were occupied ih preparing this work, and 350 performers interpret the story. SHORTT'S PICTURES. Perfectly projected pictures at Shortt's Continuous Theatre drew good houses at all sessions last evening and to-day. The star item on the bill is "The Loyalty of Sylvia," but the rest of the programme is meritorious, including "Lack of Education," "Well Matched," "Pathe Gazette," "The Hindu Curse," and "A Noisn like- a Fortune." PEOPLE'S PICTURE PALACE. "From the Regions of Darkness" is one of the chief attractions 1 in the fine picture programme at the People's Picture Palace. It is a powerful drama well enacted. .Among the supporting films are : "Shellfish," "Cattle-Rustlers," "Eclair Journal," "Simple Simon Ends the Coal Strike," and "Pat the Soothsayer," STAR THEATRE. At, the Star Theatre, "The Blacksmith" (an Aquila drama) and "Ah Equine Hero" are th,e two principal films. There will be a. complete new bill for Monday evening, when the latest films from American and Continental makers will be screened. ST.' THOMAS'S HALL. "From Regions , of Darkness" and "Water Rals" are two excellent films showing at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown. ' Picture lovers ■ should not miss seeing the former » photo-play. A complete change of programme is announced for Monday night.
