. On the Leeston green this alternoon, weather permitting, ti seven rink match will be played between the Christchurch Centre and the Ellesmere Association. A very interesting contest is expected. The Christchurch team will be composed of some of the best players in the city. • MADDISON TROPHY. P. J. Eccleton, of the Lceston ,Club, took part in the Maddi.sor Trophy singles competition in Christchurch on Thursday•' In i-Lc 'first round Eccleton beat Wilson (Kaiapoi) by 20 to 12, but in the second round he was defeated by Spiller (Sydenham) by 24 to 13. Number 13 is regarded by raauybowlers as a deidedly "unlacky number. It was so in Eccleton's case on Thursday, for he remained on the 13 for several heads. JBurgess (Dunsandel) was defeated in the second round by Herd (EdgCAvare) 19-14.
