DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The following was embodied in the report of Dr Grabham. Inspector ef Hospitals, as laid before the House of liep. esentativea. Since teen, however, the kitchen has been thoroughly painted and cleansed. Evc r y part of this establishment and surroundings has been inspected ihia day. At present there are four in-patient, three males and one female, who is attended to by her daughter. All may be looked upon as chronic and incurable cases, with the exception ot one who will shortly be discharged. One large ward is unoccupied except as a lumber room. Here two cases of scarlatina have been treated since my last visit. The total number of patients in hospital at one time has not, since that time, exceeded nine. A fa*- out-pa’rionts attend, and are prescribed forin a book kept for the purpose The dispensing is performed by ■he Wardsman. All the patients told me that they were very well attended to, antmade very comfortable. I was glad to notice a good many improvements. Some ornamental flower-beds hive been formed, and some trees and shrubs planted ; this will very much improve the look of the grounds. The hospital has been painted externally, and the mde ward cleaned and coloured. The kitchen would be all the better for the same treatment. The water closets have been converted into well-nept earth closets, in which, however, dry ashes are used. Dnin-pipes have been ordered f r enclosing the open drain from the kitchen. A basket work Bath-chair has been procured, and two good bed rests. I also saw three very excellent hair mattresses, just procured and not yet nsed. The bedding and linen are ot good quality, and this together with the whole establishment, I found very clean and orderly.
