NOMINATIONNS.
The candidates nominated, for the following Districts are : DUNSTAN. On Wednesday, the 16ch inst., at noon, the nomination of candidates for the above Dist ict took place in front of the Clyde Court House. Major Keddell, .Returning Officer, having read the writ, called for nominations. Mr G. N. M'Donald, J P., Mayor ot Alexandra, proposed Mr Vincent Pyke as a tit and proper person to represent the Du. stan District in th t House of Assembly. He said it afforded him the greatest possible pleasure to nominate Mr Pyke. He had every confidence in his ability and honesty of purposes, and he felt fully persuaded he was the best man that eonld be found in tho country to represent in Parliament the Dunst.an District. Mr F. J. Wi.soa, solicitor, Clyde, having Seconded the nomination, said he fully endorsed Mr M*Donald’s remarks, and congratulated Mr Pyke on his being so well and honorably known as to bo retained without opposition. There oeing no other nominations, the Returning Officer declare 1 Mr Vincent Fyke duly elected to represent the Duustau District in the House of Representatives. (Cneers.)
Mr Pyke said: Having so lately addressed tho electors, he did not intend to mike a long speech. He felt extremely the honour to be returned for a fourth time to represent the Dunstan District, and.iesired to express his grateful thanks for the renewed expression of confidence in him, and would move a vote of thanks to the Returning officer for tbe efficient manner he had performed his duries. Major Keddell having returned thanks, The proceedings terminated.
THAPEKA. At the nomination of candidates Messrs J. 0. Brown and Francis Oudaille were proposed. The show of hands was in favor of Mr Brown. WAKITIPU. At the nomination Messrs T. Fergus, J. T. M, Hornsuy. and S. N. Brown were nominated. The show of hands was—Fergus, 60 ; Hornsby, 12 ; Brown, 3 There was a large gathering, and the 1 itter two candidates addresse I the meeting. Mr Fergus was prevented from being present through his injuries not allowing him to travel so fast as he wished to do. Mr J. A. Miller made a few remarks in the absence of Mr Fergus. MANIOTOTO. At the nomination of candidates Mr Mackenzie was proposed by William Gu'fie, Mayor of Naseby, seconded by James Brown. Air John Swing was propns-d by liamuel Turner, second el by Francis Reed. The show of hands was : Mackenzie, 41; Ewing, 10. A uoll was demanded on behalf of Mr Ewing.
