There were as many people present as on a Dunedin Cup day. The exhibits were fully up to standard in quality and numbers. Knowles, the self-confessed murderer of Bates, the actor, in Melbourne, has been discharged from custody. The Suez Mail arrived at King George Sound yesterday. A Salvatiou Army Lieutenant was fined 20s yesterday, at Timaru, for furious driving. Rev. Charles Strong, o f Melbourne, has been presented -with 3() n 0 sovs. Three families of refugee Jews from South Russia, arrived at Auckland recently. The steamer Oreti went ashore yesterday hut was got off. The railway passenger traffic for the month shows a very slight decrease, but the goods traffic an increase-
