HOME AND FOREIGN. London, December 11th. Five of the prisoners who confessed to parti cipation in tho murder of the Joyce family at Mautrasna, and were found guilty and sentenced to death, have now had their sentences commuted to penal servitude for life. Tho death sentence will be carried out in the case of tho other prisoners. Mr Gladstone resigns office as Chancellor of tho Exchequer, but retains that of First Lord of tho Treasury. Nuhar Pasha has declined a seat in the Egyptian Cabinet, and it is expected that Ayoub Pasha will now be appointed to succeed Riaz. Mr Parnell is endeavouring to find a purchaser for his estate in Wicklow. The Egyptian Government will contribute £3200 monthly to defray the expenses of England in connection with the recent campaign in Egypt. The Chinese Government have sent a force of 10,000 to the Touquin territory. Cairo, December 11th. Fifty-four of the rebel prisoners have been released from custody without having been brought to trial.
