CAMBRIAN.
(From our own Correspondent) Through the kindness and liberality of Mr and Mrs Burnett of the Hawkdun Station, the children attending school here enjoyed a treat in the groan Is ot that place on St. Andrews' Day. The children did ample justice to the liberality of their kind entertainers, and all returned home highly delighted, each one having received a gift suitable to his or her age or sox before leaving. A few days ago an accident happened to a little girl, daughter of Mr Thomas MacMorran, but fortunately without any serious results. A number of little girls were out wildflower and fern gathering, and coming to an old prospecting shaft, in tho mouths of which may often bo seen some as fine sped men ot ferns as ever gladened the eye of the botanist or delighted a child. She reached down to get some, and overbalancing herself fell to the bottom, a depth of fifteen feet. Some ot the children stayed by the shaft and others gave the alarm, and on being extricated it wa* found that beyond being severely cut about the head and face she had received no serious injuries, and happily she is able to be about again. The weather (luring the past few days has been hot and sultry ; rain is much wanted.
