ENTERTAINMENT AT ALEXANDRA.

On the night of Wednesday, the 6 hj inst.» the Alexandra Amateur Dramatic Club gave ano'her of their excellent performances to rather a poor house. This is the more to i he regretted as the proceeds were to swell their Wardrobe Fund, and the Club are at no little expense to place their performances upon the stage in a creditable manner. The piece de resistance on this occasion was a rather ambitious one for amateurs, viz., the two act drama “The Peep Show Mao,” but our frienls not only succeeded in saving the drama from degenerating in a farce, but all played throughout into a redly goo 1 style ; in fact, all there were unanimous in characterising it the best performance this Club has ever given. Special mention must b.made of the really clever acting of Mrs Williams as the heroine, Mary May land. Mr Williams in the title role acted a difficult part fairly well, but seem u il uneasy—an u.i usual thing for him. Messrs Forrest and Heney as Sands and Merton the villians of the play also acted well, which remark als > applies to Miss Robertson, Messrs Re<s, Aidred, Willeox, and Finlay, who filled the minor parts. The stage arrangem-nts, dresses, and scenery were all goo I, particularly in the first scene of the second act, which was painted by Mr Willeox, and is a very creditable amateur production. The afterpiece “ Little Tro llekin” caused great amusement. Mr Aldied, as Broun smith, acted very well and fairly carried the audience with him. Miss Robertson. Mr Forrest, and Mr Ramsden. (a new and valuable addition to the Clubs acting members) as All-lie Babbicomho, her father, and aptain Littlepop, all played excellently, while Mr Williams male up an I acted Aurantbi. “ Little Toodlckins” very well. Both pieces were frequently and warmly applauded.
