The announcement of the retirement of Prince Gortschakoff has been received with general satisfaction by the European Press, and the appointment of M. Giers as his successor is interpreted as indicating the adoption of an avowedly pacific foreign policy.

News has been received here that Mr Parnell has been released from custody and has left Dublin for England. It has transpirrd that Mr Parnell, who is now on his way from Dublin, has been released on parole for a week to enable him to visit Paris, where his sister, one of whose children has recently died, resides. Mr Parnell passed through London to-day on his way to Paris. A demonstration was organised to meet him, hut he purposely evaded it and is tiavelling at all possible speed.

Mr. Lucas’s house, and that of a neighbour (Kenny) were both damaged hy the explosion, but the inhabitants escaped without injury.
