INTERCOLONIAL
The crushing of a patch of lewt. of quartz at Ballarat, Victoria, has given the extraordinary yield of 8111b. of gold. It has transpired that the New Zealand Government have telegraphed to Messrs Joubert and Twopenny (now in Adelaide), promising support to an exhibition which they purpose organising in Christchurch next year. The Italian warship Europe, which ran ashore on Thursday Island, off the northeast coast of Queensland, last week, has since been floated off without injury.
