BRITISH AND FOREIGN Intelligence is to band from Ireland that renewed riots directed against the processservers have occurred at several places in that country. The more serious disturbances have occurred at Roscrea, Mohill and Clara. News has also been received of a dastardly outrage on a landlord’s residence at New Pallas, Ireland. A barrel of gunpowder was exploded near the house, and caused its partial destruction. The perpetrators of the outrage have not yet been discovered.
Telegrams received from Pretoria announce that the TransvaalVolksraad has referred the Anglo-Boer Convention to a Select Committee to decide upon its ratification or rejection ; and that the Volksraad has in the meantime adjourned until Oct. 3rd. General Sir Evelyn Wood has in view of the delay in the ratification of the Convention been invested by the Imperial Government with full powers to act in event of any emergency, and that the General has ordered active preparations on the part of the British troops in the Transvaal, in order to bo prepared for any difficulty that may arise.
Telegrams received from Tunis report that two severe engagements have boon fought between the Arab insurgents and the Tunisian troops, and that in both actions the latter were defeated.
