SYDNEY, August 27. Two fresh cases of small-pox have been reported to day. A number of patients were released from the Quarantine Station last night They are reticent as to the treatment they have received ; enough has transpired, however, to show that there has been gross neglect and mismanagement at the station It is stated that the shoes and cloths of those in quarantine were destroyed and never replaced August 29. Several fresh cases of small-pox have been reported to the authoi ities to-day.
ADELAIDE, August 29. Wheat has been sold to-day at 5s Sd, but holders are asking higher prices.
BRISBANE, August 27. In the action for libel brought by Mr Perkins, Minister for Crown Lauds, against the “ Evangelical Standard.” in which damages were laid at L2OOO, a verdict has been returned for the plaintiff, with L 3 damages and costs. MELBOURNE, August 26.
It is announced that the steamship Ferret not having been sold at auction is still open for private sale.
