AUCKLAND, August 23. George Kendall has been fined £SO and costs at Hokianga for supplying a Native woman with drink.

A strange idea occurred to a man named dagger, at Kaw r akawa, who raffled himself for 20 members, at 4s each, the winner to have dagger’s services for 14 days. George Brewer was the prize-winner. HOKITIKA, August 29. A shilling subscription is to be started hero towards recouping Sir dulius Yogel for the money he paid out of his own pocket to civil servants' of his department.

NAPIER, August 30. The charred remains of a number of letters have been found in Rendall’s rooms. By tho aid of a magnifying glass, a word here and there could be made out, which has led to the identification of four or five, which were fonvardod by the last ’Frisco mail. Eendall states he had accomplices outside of the Post Office.

A subscription list in aid of the Jews in Russia has been opened here, and about £3O is already subscribed. CHRISTCHURCH, August 30. Information received by the N.Z.S.
