At a wool auction held recently at Goldborough’s stores, Melbourne, on the 6th instant there was a large attendance of foreign buyers, and good competition at 10 per cent, advance. Seventy-one officers of the Melbourne Lands Department have received notice of dismissal. A 45-ounce nugget has been found in one of the claims at Temora. It is stated by an engineer, a man of 20 yeais’ New Zealand experience, that the Westport coal is the best for steaming purposes he ever used in the Colony.
