STOCK REPORT.
Mr Donald Stronaeh (un belnlf of the New Z aland Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows for the week ending October 6th : Fat cattle were in full auoply at Burnside this day, 241 head having been yarded, and last we> k’s quotations were not supported. Bullocks realised from L 5 12s 6d to Ll3 2s 61, and cows L 4 15s to L 7 17s 61 per head. We sold drafts on account of Messrs William Dunn and J and J. Sutherland, bullocks at from L 5 12i 6 I to L 7 17s 61, and cows at L 4 15s to L 6 17a 6.1. We quote best beef at 25s per 1061b. Fat Sheep.—The supply was again very large, and the trade being already fairly supplied a farther reduction had to he sub mitted to to effect sales. 3338 were penned, consisting of 2642 cross-breds and 756 merinos. For the former 12s to 14s 6d was realised in the wool, and 8s 9-1 to 9s shorn ; and the merinos sold at from 6s 6d to 10s 6.1. We disposed of drafts as follows : —Croa«-breds—on accounts of Mr William Dunn, 202 at 12s ; Messrs J and J. Sutherland, 182 at 12s and 13s ; J. G. Grey, 69 at. 13s to 13s 61 ; Little Bros., 120 at 12s 3.1 to 12s 61; and no account of Mr David Corsan, 154 shorn cross-hreds, at 8s to 8s 31 ; also, a draft of merinos, on account of Mr J. G. Buckland, at 10s. We quote prime cross-bred mutton barely 2jd per lb in the wool, and Ifd shorn. Fat Lambs.—33B were penned, which sold at from 4s to 11s 9d per head. We disposed of drafts on account of Messrs Robson, J. C. Buckland, aud J. G. Grey at 4s to 8s 6d.
Fat Tigs.—97 were offered ami disposed of at from 16s to 55s per head. Wool.—We disposed of a few bales of scoured wool marked S. ami M. at public sale on Monday last, at Is 4d and Is s|d per lb. Sheepskins.—At our weekly auction sale on Monday, we offered a full catalogue which was well competed for at prices about same as last week. Butchers’ crossbred skins realised from 3s 3d to 5s 7d, and merinos, 2s lld to 5s Id, ami station skins at same rates.
Hides.—We have noebanga to report, all consignments coming to baud are readily quoted at late prices.
Tallow.—As intimate:! in our report last week, recent prices are not sustained, the demand Being scarcely equal to taking off *he supplies , which are coming forward freely. Orain : Wheat—Market continues firm at late values for good to prime milling, but for inferior descriptions there is no improvement in the demand. Wo quote 4s Od for prime milling, 4s to 4s 41 for fair to good, 3s 6d to 4s for inferior to medium. Oats—We have had enquiries for milling for shipment, but cannot as yet report transactions. Local demand continues very slack, and our last quotation of Is Sd could scarcely bo obtained. Good feed can bo disposed of at Is 6d, at which sales have transpired. Barley—No change in the market, and any quotation? would be only nomiuth
